2015 event dates April 1st/2nd
Hartford Elementary raised over $9200 this year (2014) for the American Heart Association! So the last 5 years we have raised over $42,000.
The Hartford Elementary PE program will be participating in Jumprope for Heart in April 2015. We are raising awareness and money for the American Heart Association. The event will take place in our regular PE classes. The collection envelopes will go home in March, and they are due back by first week of April (i will collect money till end of April). This is the 6th year in a row we have had an event, and each event has been a huge success. The first year we raised over $4100, 2nd year over $4700, 3rd year over $8000, 4th over $9,000, 5th year over $9300, and this year over $9200 is awesome, but the biggest thing is we are informing people about heart disease.
Mr. Matthies took 115 pies to the face at Track/Field Day as a reward for the students that raised over $100. Ten students got treated to lunch at Subway with Mr. Matthies for raising over $200.
.Our goal is for each student to ask at least 5 -10 people (they can ask more) if they would like to donate. Our class goals are $100 = week of games -- $200 = 2 weeks of games -- $300 = 3 weeks of games and so on. Also the student from each grade that raises the most gets to have a Subway lunch with Mr. Matthies. Any student that raises over $50 will get hit Mr. Matthies with 1 pie, and any student over $100 will get to hit Mr. Matthies with 2 whip cream pies. Also I am checking into maybe getting some other staff involved in the pie challange. We do not need any volunteer help for our event -- the event is just in our regular classes. The student that raises the most money (anybody over $200 will be included) in their grade level will get to go to lunch with Mr. Matthies at Subway -- parents will be notified which students get to go.
